Chameleon wine Konrad is a small garage winery located in Schriesheim (wine region "Badische Bergstraße"). The winery is operated by me, Nora Konrad (main role: qualified winemaker) and Mathis Konrad (main role: medical physicist). We both grew up in northern Germany. I grew up close to Münster, Mathis in the region Emsland. Our paths crossed while studying in Bremen.
After completing my studies (political science and foreign languages), I dared to make a new start in a skilled trade and began an apprenticeship in winemaking. Therefore we moved to Palatinate (Pfalz) where I completed my entire training and Mathis gained his first experience in viticulture. In the following years we worked at various renowned wineries at home and abroad, mostly at ecologically working wineries. Among others they were the wineries Isegrim and Koehler-Ruprecht in Palatinate, Aigner in Wachau, Château des Rontets in Burgundy, Clos Henri, Framingham and Stonyridge Vineyard in New Zealand.
In 2022 Mathis decided to take up his role as a physicist again, began work in research and became a doctoral candidate at Heidelberg University Hospital. That is how we arrived in Schriesheim next to Heidelberg. Since the vineyards are located exactly opposite in the Rhine valley, we are almost back at the starting point of our wine-growing history.
After many voyages and winding paths, the feet now move on, however now no longer through the world, but to work in their own winery: Chameleon wine Konrad.
